Stay away! Bank account to be empty, new scam in the name of 5G SIM upgrade
In the name of 4G to 5G SIM upgrade, customers are being deceived by becoming telecom customer care officers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 5G network in the country on October 1. Telecom companies Reliance Jio, Airtel have also rolled out 5G in some cities of the country. And the government has promised to provide 5G network across the country within the next 1 to 2 years. But with the launch of 5G in the country, cyber fraud has also found a new way to cheat people.
According to a latest report by Check Point Software, now scammers are offering help to people by becoming customer care executives of Vodafone, Airtel or Jio so that people can upgrade their 4G SIM to 5G SIM.
New method of phishing is to upgrade 4G to 5G SIM
In this new case of phishing, these frauds send phishing links to customers, for which customers need their personal and sensitive (personal and confidential) information such as bank password or OTP. Through this, money is wiped out from their account.

It is worth noting that companies are not offering any new SIM card for 5G network and 5G is being offered only on existing 4G SIM cards. You do not need to change any SIM for 5G connectivity.
Let us know that smartphone companies such as Samsung, Apple, Google will give 5G software updates in their smartphones, only then 5G support will be available in the phone.
Similarly, similar tweets have been shared from the twitter
accounts of Pune, Hyderabad and Gurugram police. Authorities across the country have appealed to citizens not to share their personal or banking details with anyone. Apart from this, it has also been asked not to share any OTP with telemarketers, by doing so, the money of people’s hard work can go into the hands of these frauds.
Cases of cyber fraud are increasing continuously in the country. CheckPoint software suggests that users should have strong passwords. Apart from this, two-factor authentication should be adopted for additional security. Your software should be kept updated with the latest security patch so that incidents like phishing do not happen.
